Ideal for do-it-yourselfers, the ProSteer ball joint also can be easily rebuilt in the field and without any special equipment, lowering repair costs and vehicle downtime. BRP/BILLET RACING PRODUCTS IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE ITS SECOND ANNUAL FUN RIDE. PUT ON IN CONJUNCTION WITH AMA DISTRICT 37, THIS YEAR’S EVENT IS TO HELP INCREASE AWARENESS ABOUT THE POSSIBLE MARINE EXPANSION INTO THE JOHNSON VALLEY OHV AREA.

This year’s event is called the “Save Johnson Valley Fun Ride” to be held on December 13 & 14 in Johnson Valley, Ca at the Cougar Buttes camping area.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA (December 2, 2008) Following up on the success of last years event dedicated to the Clear Creek Management Area, BRP and AMA District 37 have teamed up to have fun and help save Johnson Valley, the largest open OHV area in the country. There is a dual purpose to this year’s event. The first is to increase awareness about the proposed expansion of the Twentynine Palms Marine Base, and the second, is to raise funds for the AMA D37 Legal Defense Fund. The key is to get people involved in the process through education and letter writing while at the same time having fun. We will have various loops for all types of riders and disciplines. Everyone in the OHV community is invited.

In September the Department of Defense started proceedings to expand their Twentynine Palms training facility. One option to increase the training area would be to expand westward into the Johnson Valley OHV Area. The loss of this area would have a devastating effect on the Southern California OHV community and the businesses that serve them. It is the largest open OHV area in the country, encompassing 189,000 acres. Home to family OHV recreationist as well as a myriad of competition events such as motorcycle races, 2 and 4-wheel drive off-road events and extreme rock crawling.

Donations at this event will benefit AMA D37’s Legal Defense Fund, which was formed to help protect public lands for OHV recreation. These funds allow D37 to be a member of EcoLogic Partners, Inc; which funds an attorney to protect the rights of OHV recreationists. In the case of the proposed Marine expansion into the Johnson Valley OHV Area EcoLogic’s legal counsel will attend public meetings and make written comments at the appropriate stages during the EIS process. Having an attorney monitor and participate in this process will help the OHV community use its voice to shape the outcome.
