Oregon Public Board Hearing - Florence, OR

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will be holding five hearings in July to receive public comment on proposed All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs).

The draft Oregon Administrative Rules are available on OPRD’s website http://egov.oregon.gov/OPRD/RULES/index.shtml beginning Monday, June 23, 2008. The rule changes are in response to 2007 legislation. Senate Bill 101 requires that persons operating Class I (quads) or Class III (motorcycle) ATVs for recreational purposes on Oregon public lands successfully complete an ATV safety education course. It also includes new requirements for adult supervision of youth under 16 years of age, fastening of helmet chin straps, and properly matching youth under 16 with a correct size quad. These new requirements will be phased in over a period from January 1, 2008 through January 1, 2014.

The public is invited to the hearings to comment on the proposed changes either in person or in writing. Written comments will also be accepted in the OPRD office (or postmarked) no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 and can be sent to:

ITP’s NEW 18×8-8 QUADCROSS

BIG-TIME PERFORMANCE FOR SMALL SPORT ATVs
Small-bore sport ATV riders looking for a competitive edge will be happy to learn that ITP has just released an all-new QuadCross tire just for them. At 18×8-8, this high-performance rear knobby is perfect for youth- and mini-class quads, as well as the many popular 250cc sport ATVs hitting the market — including the Yamaha Raptor 250 (just added to the ITP/Yamaha QuadCross Series; visit www.itpquadcross.com for details). This new tire has already been making waves at the AMA/ITP/Moose Motocross Nationals under winning youth riders like Chase Horton, Benjamin Brocato and Colby Gilchrist.

This new 18×8-8 QuadCross (P/N 560521) shares virtually all of the advanced design features and benefits of the original QuadCross tire, developed and proven by several factory teams and riders, including Team Yamaha’s Pat Brown and Dustin Nelson, and Team Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer and Keith Little. It’s an excellent choice for most track surfaces, but its strength is on hard-packed, blue-groove type motocross courses. It utilizes a scientifically advanced rubber compound that’s been specially formulated to find traction on the slickest of surfaces for excellent acceleration and braking characteristics. Considerable laboratory time was invested to make this compound possible, with extensive field testing backing up the results. Its unique shoulder profile greatly improves cornering predictability and side bite as well, for unmatched cornering performance. Fast and light, it’s the edge every racer needs.

The perfect wheel for this tire is a new addition to ITP’s T-9 Pro Series line: an 8×6 size with a 2+4 offset (P/N ITP8641R). This high-performance .150-wall, 6061 T-6 spun aluminum wheel fits many popular mini race quads using 4/110 bolt patterns and features dual-rolled lips for extra strength. Mounted with the new 18×8-8 QuadCross tire, it’s the hot setup for mini quad racing!

Since 1982, ITP has grown into the world’s #1 ATV aftermarket tire and wheel source, and continues to provide a complete line of innovative tires and wheel for virtually all ATVs and UTVs. To order, contact your favorite distributor. For a copy of ITP’s full-color product catalog, call toll-free: 1-800-859-4740. For other inquiries or technical advice, contact ITP at 930-A S. Rockefeller Ave., Ontario, CA 91761; (909) 390-1905. Or visit ITP’s website at www.itptires.com
